Teachers work with these small groups to teach vital reading skills and strategies using specifically chosen fiction and non-fiction books. Formative assessments are conducted throughout the year to ensure pupils are placed in the correct groups.

3. Home Reading
Home reading books are chosen for P1 pupils based on their instructional reading levels. They take one book home and read it with parents each week using reading strategies they have learnt in lessons. Pupils are encouraged to fill out a basic report on each book which the NET reviews to ensure they are reading books appropriate for their level.
